A Staged Reading of
Hummingbird in the House
A New Play by Steve Duprey
November 8 & 9, 2024
7:00 pm
In this new play, Steve Duprey examines the lives of two brothers on either side of the political aisle as they struggle to accept Vince’s transition from female to male. It’s a tale for our tumultuous times as we, as a nation, struggle with LGBTQIA+ rights in our towns, our school, and our families.
Join the Playwright/Director along with the cast after the reading for a discussion about the play and anything else that is sparked by the reading.

A “MEMBERS FIRST” EVENT
In this Season of Thanksgiving, it is with gratitude and thanks to our generous donors and friends that W-PHS members are invited to attend a complimentary “Members First“ performance commemorating our Historical Society’s 60th Anniversary. The event will also include a celebratory toast immediately following the performance.
Reservations are required for this “Members First” event and must be made online at www.w-phs.org by midnight November 15th. Starting November 16th, tickets not spoken for will be made available online to non-members for an admission charge.
This special one-man, two-act adaptation of “A Christmas Carol” will be presented by the multi-talented Mr. Kim Tenreiro who has in the past graced the Gates Hall stage, bringing to life over 30 characters during the show. Believing that we all share the responsibility for maintaining and preserving our cultural landmarks, Tenreiro gently encourages and challenges others to be good stewards of Gates Hall . . . America’s oldest, continuously operating small community theatre for which W-PHS is sole steward.
When making reservations, there is an option to donate year-end gifts to the Gates Hall Preservation Fund for those who may be inspired to do so.
Please join W-PHS in extending special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Gene Bavis, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Doniger, and Mr. and Mrs. Tom Watson for their special gifts which make it possible to present this holiday classic to W-PHS members.
